Is fear holding you back?
When we realize that there will always be a positive outcome on every side, how can things not improve?
But it requires retraining of the brain.
What is visualization and how can it help?
Visualization is a practice where we use our imagination to create the reality we want. I remember the time my son wanted to jump high enough to touch the basketball net. He kept trying and kept getting frustrated. An amazing thing happened when I pulled him aside and asked him to visualize himself touching the net. With his next jump, he touched that net. Honestly, neither one of us could believe it. It was a moment we will both remember.
As we get caught up in all our fears and worries, we forget about believing and dreaming. We have trouble imagining our dreams in life because our minds are way too cluttered with doubts and skepticism. If you’re skeptic, then visualization might seem odd or intimidating. There is nothing strange, unusual, or inconceivable about your dream or your passion. The truth is, you’re already using visualization in your day-to-day life. It’s an imaginative power that comes to you naturally.
Practicing visualization means that you create a mental image of what you want to attract and draw your way. When you’re visualizing the reality you want to live in, you also start to gain emotions stirred by the desired image. As you envision what you want, you begin to experience the feelings and emotions you typically would experience if that reality were true.
This is similar to the concept of creating a vision board, except the visual imagery is in your mind. Both the visualization and creating a physical vision board serve common purposes. The main difference is that visualization adds additional focus and information when delivering your wants and desires. Learning to use this powerful tool can help you sharpen your mind’s eye to generate detailed images of what you seek to bring into your life. This, in turn, puts you in a positive state of being as you feel significantly more inspired to take action and achieve those goals.
With that said, effective visualization and successful manifestation require that you develop a razor-sharp focus on one clear, definite, and specific path. You may be wondering if it’s possible to visualize more than one thing at a time, and while you can, this doesn’t mean that you should. The thing is, you want to dedicate all your time, energy, and willpower to one specific thing until it becomes a reality. Scattered attention slows down your efforts to visualize and attract your desired outcome. When it comes to visualization, intensity really matters. This is what makes it such a powerful tool.
This past summer my other son was struggling with starting the lawnmower. I knew he was getting frustrated and I was worried he would wear out the starter as he was well on his way to flooding the engine. Granted visualization wasn’t in my mind, but I knew he wasn’t doing something correctly. Now both of my sons are now young adult men so I walk the fine line of still being a helicopter mom. So I walked outside and said to Paul, “I know you know what you’re doing. But would you stop for a second because you’re missing a step as you’re turning the key.” Now I really have no idea how to start that lawnmower engine, but I knew he did. So he gave me a look, took a deep breath as I walked away. That lawnmower started the next time he gave it another try and turned the key.
Although this is a pretty straightforward concept, it requires intention. As you’re working towards your goals, use your bigger vision to create smaller moments of intention to continue visualizing each step of the journey.
Fear has no place in your entrepreneurial journey.
Start retraining your brain to look for positive outcomes.
That’s how visualization can help.
