A strategy in its simplest form is a plan. Whether you plan to get up earlier every day, live a healthier lifestyle, or starting a new business; everything requires a plan, whether you realize it or not.
From a business perspective strategy represents a blueprint used by successful entrepreneurs to achieve goals. A business without a strategy is a poor gamble. To increase the odds of success, it’s necessary to devise a plan. A good strategy provides a clear roadmap, which guides you to make the best decisions while managing your business every day.
So you can define strategy as a set of guiding principles which define the actions you take (or ignore) and what you prioritize (or consider as low priority) to achieve your desired goals.
Every change in life requires a strategy. In my experience, I rediscovered the need to have a strategy when I started blogging. I have a good habit of writing and saving notes, but that’s where it ends. At the beginning of my blogging experience, I followed my own advice about repurposing. During some of my research, I studied old notes written about four years ago and realized NOT having a strategy held me back from achieving success. I am happy I saw that note and realized I needed a strategy to have a successful blogging experience.
This particular mentor told us it’s best to strategize before you optimize. And the difference between a good and bad strategy is often a few choices made at decisive moments.
What type of strategy is best?
Here’s the simple answer- you should choose a strategy you can apply easily. A simple and easy strategy keeps you motivated and committed to achieving your goals.
For me automation and duplication works excellently. I leverage technology to manage tasks efficiently. Automation allows me to achieve more of my goals with less stress because then I can focus on complex tasks while other ad hoc activities and processes are ongoing.
My words of wisdom for you are don’t settle for ‘surviving the day’ as an entrepreneur. Instead, create a strategy that guarantees you will achieve your goals.
Why is it important to have a Strategy?
A good strategy gives your business a competitive advantage by maximizing strengths and lowering risks. It ensures that daily activities help to move your business in the right direction. As an entrepreneur, a compelling strategy helps you manage your business successfully while living your best life.
Here are my top two tips for creating an excellent business strategy;
Have a Daily Method of Operation–DMO
Your daily method of operation (DMO) defines daily priorities for better time and stress management. So you have more time to focus on making a higher income.
Aim for SMARTER goals
Here’s an easy way to identify SMARTER goals, in which they should have these features;
– Simple and Specific
– Measurable
– Achievable but Actionable
– Relevant yet Realistic
– Timely
– Excited with Evaluation
– Re-Do or Readjust
Create better habits.
Are you starting a business? Have you devised a strategic plan on how to be an efficient business manager? Identify habits that align with your strategy. For example, if your target audience is on social media, develop a habit of engaging with them daily. Form habits that keep you focused on your business goals.
Having a strategy is not the finish line. It’s an improvement system that helps you create a successful and sustainable business framework.
